Industry proposal to increase market-consistency gets cool reception

A new proposal that seeks to bring more actuarial certainty and market consistency to Swiss defined-contribution (DC) pension funds has drawn sharp criticism from the pensions regulator, the Bundesamt fur Sozialversicherungen (BSV), for fear that it could reduce pension benefits. The debate comes at a time when the Swiss occupational pension system is under the spotlight over its governance and solvency problems.
