Deal of the month - Verizon
Verizon's second large-scale visit to the bond market of the year followed the telecom's successful bid for a wireless spectrum licence from the US Federal Communication Commission. Payment was due by April 17, but Bank of America's head of media and telecom capital markets, Keith Harman, is keen to stress that recourse to the debt market wasn't essential to fund the purchase. "Verizon has lots of liquidity and is able to fund in both the bond and commercial paper markets."
