E.ON looks to shed aluminium interests

GERMAN UTILITY E.ON is in talks to sell its VAW aluminium unit to Norsk Hydro in a deal that would make the Norwegian firm Europe’s leading aluminium provider. E.ON has reportedly long been courting potential buyers for VAW, which is valued at around $2 billion, and the divestiture would enable it to concentrate further on its core energy business.

In April, E.ON announced an agreed e15.3 billion offer for UK energy company Powergen that would enhance its business on both sides of the Atlantic
