Many people regard stubbornness as an undesirable trait, especially in the workplace. But Nico Van Wayenbergh, the Brussels-based chief risk officer (CRO) of GDF Suez Trading – the trading arm of French utility GDF Suez – believes being stubborn is a great talent for those aspiring to work in risk management.
That conviction comes as a result of personal experience. Over the course of his career, his determination to find and understand details that don't seem right has often paid off, he says,
