Lehman goes green in Japan

Investment bank Lehman Brothers has become the first foreign financial firm to have an account in Japan's national carbon registry, allowing it to begin trading physical Certified Emission Reductions (CERs) in Japan. The carbon registry is for CERs obtained as Japan invests in green projects in developing countries under the Clean Development Mechanism.

The National Registry System was developed in 2002 to help the Japanese government establish its domestic rules of emission trading systems.
