LCH.Clearnet to launch OTC clearing service for spot emissions

LCH.Clearnet has announced intentions to launch a clearing service for UK participants in the spot market for carbon credits.

The service will offer traders straight-through-processing from broker desks to LCH.Clearnet for deals involving spot EUAs and CERs, and will provide next day delivery and settlement. ClimateSettle, a settlement service operated by Euroclear Bank, will provide the delivery-versus-payment settlement services.
