On March 7, 2009 the Bank of England began its aggressive policy of monetary stimulus, slashing interest rates to 0.5% and commencing quantitative easing.  Now, four years on, with the UK economy teetering on the brink of a triple-dip recession, there is little sign that this stance is set to change soon.
