New issuance in the convertible bond market puts it ˜back on track'

Cheapness of fund raising and new features attached to corporate debt have led to a resurgence in the sector



Recent resurgence in European and US convertible bonds has expanded the field of opportunities for convertible bond hedge fund managers, while the amount of bond redemptions due soon suggests strong demand in the convertibles market.


Luke Olsen, Barclays Capital's head of convertibles research, says the cheapness of fund raising via bond issuance has led US growth companies back into the convertible issuer market often with new features attached to their debt such as enhanced conversion ratios
