Mark Wetjen: standardised stress tests will improve transparency

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission may force clearing entities to undertake standardised stress tests and contribute capital to the guarantee fund, according to CFTC commissioner Mark Wetjen.

Speaking at the FIA Asia conference today (December 4), Wetjen said risk management of central counterparties (CCPs) was of paramount importance, especially as the amount of cleared derivatives continues to rise.

"As clearing volumes increase, the concentration of risk in CCPs will continue to grow
