HSBC Global Asset Management appoints new Asia CIO

Bill Maldonado, who was a derivatives portfolio manager in the 1990s, is transferring from London to become chief investment officer for HSBC Global Asset Management in Asia

HSBC Global Asset Management has appointed Bill Maldonado as chief investment officer, Asia Pacific, with immediate effect. He replaces Ayaz Ebrahim, who left the asset manager in May.

Maldonado will relocate from London to Hong Kong in August, but will retain his current responsibility as strategy CIO for equities. He will also continue to report to London-based Chris Cheetham, global chief investment officer. Locally, he will report to Joanna Munro, chief executive for Asia Pacific at HSBC
