Hong Kong poised to launch dividend futures

Hong Kong Exchange and Clearing looks set to join rival Singapore Exchange in offering dividend futures contracts

Hong Kong may soon see its own dividend futures market, following the introduction of the Dividend Point Index Series by Hang Seng Index, expected on July 12. The Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEx), which runs the Hong Kong bourse, said it is currently investigating the possibility of launching dividend futures based on the new indexes.

HKEx said it has been working with Hang Seng Indexes as part of an ongoing study of futures contracts based on two dividend point indexes, the HSI Dividend
