Stress-testing experts are calling on European bank regulators to rethink their approach to setting adverse scenarios in future tests, after the scenarios for this year's European Union-wide test, announced in February, ignored the risks of the UK's in-out referendum on EU membership.

Banks are preparing to submit their test results to the European Banking Authority (EBA), but the absence of a Brexit scenario – a market shock, followed by a long period of slow growth – makes the numbers
