As a former secretary-general of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, Danièle Nouy is all too familiar with the process of developing comprehensive regulation, then stepping back as it gets manhandled into European and national law. Given that, Nouy, now the secretary-general of the Autorité de Contrôle Prudentiel (ACP), the prudential regulator housed within the Banque de France, is relieved by the European Commission’s (EC) decision to implement elements of Basel III as untouchable
