DnB Nor returns to the Norwegian structured products market

Nordic bank DnB Nor will resume distribution of structured products to high-net-worth investors and affluent retail clients in Norway on May 25. The two new products, translated roughly as “Global ‘Trigg’ (safe)” and “Top Norden” (top selected stocks from Nordic area – stock baskets) both offer 100% capital protection and have been made available before the judgment of a court case against DnB Nor brought by Ivar Roeggen over the distribution of unsuitable structured products.

The two five-year products offer a minimum investment of Nkr50,000. “Some of the previous criticism of structured products in Norway is that they are often considered complex and hard for clients to understand,” says Jeremy Brown, vice-president of investment products at DnB Nor in Oslo.

“We provide full disclosure of the costs associated and have ensured the products have simple pay-offs; there is no averaging,” says Brown.
