Ever greater numbers of hedge funds are using multiple prime brokers. However, while going 'multi-prime' can have its advantages, there are also technological difficulties.

Aggregating and managing data from prime brokers can be difficult. Hedge funds face technical challenges when using more than one prime broker and must consider their options in seeking to overcome these hurdles, such as outsourcing, building a centralised accounting system in-house or investing in off the shelf applications.
