Options trading on EEX by year-end

Power futures have been traded on the Leipzig based exchange since spring 2001, but the introduction of options trading will give the business additional momentum, according to EEX chairman Hans-Bernd Menzel.

“The netting of individual derivatives positions will further increase the attractiveness of exchange based and over the counter (OTC) options trading,” says Menzel.

Furthermore, EEX will take on the clearing of the options contracts. In this process, the purchaser is not required to deposit
