People: Wheatley to head new UK regulator
Martin Wheatley will head the Consumer Protection and Markets Authority when it replaces the Financial Services Authority next year
Martin Wheatley has been named head of the UK’s Consumer Protection and Markets Authority (CPMA), one of the two new bodies that will replace current regulator the Financial Services Authority (FSA) when it is disbanded in 2012.
Wheatley will join the FSA Board on September 1 this year, when his appointment begins. The CPMA is expected to be established by the end of 2012, according to the FSA.
Wheatley is currently chief executive of Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), which
