As head of global policy and a senior regulatory adviser at the International Swaps and Derivatives Association, Metcalfe is firmly in the hot seat. The first wave of the financial crisis that engulfed the globe refocused both public awareness and political spotlights on derivatives. Previously only modestly supervised, the derivatives industry is now getting its own substantial regulatory infrastructure, both in the US and in the EU.
