Turbulence in both the physical and financial worlds spilled over into energy markets in 2011. The Arab Spring sent the price of Brent crude soaring to more than $126 per barrel (/bbl) in April, but then Standard & Poor’s downgrade of the US credit rating, coupled with the worsening European debt crisis
