Industry disputes lack of RES support in US energy bill

US Senate leader Harry Reid released details of the Clean Energy Jobs and Oil Company Accountability Act to the Senate on Tuesday. The act concentrates on energy efficiency, electric vehicles and oil and gas company liabilities in the event of a spill, such as that from BP’s Macondo well, which has been leaking into the Gulf of Mexico for more than 100 days, but it lacks a renewable energy standard (RES).

The House of Representatives passed a far-reaching energy bill in June 2009, which included
