Premium-reduction device

A strategy that aims to reduce the cost of an option or other derivative. There are three main ways to achieve this:

1) selling a second derivative to reduce the overall cost of a strategy;

2)limiting the payout profile of the derivative; or

3) accepting payments below market rates.
