Smart beta growth nearing peak, says Solactive boss

Steffen Scheuble says growth in mainstream strategies may be nearing saturation point

The rapid growth of investments tied to smart beta index strategies is likely to slow in the coming years as the market becomes saturated and fewer products are launched, says Steffen Scheuble, chief executive of Frankfurt-based index provider Solactive.

"I feel that we might be close to the peak in the growth rate for smart beta," says Scheuble in a forthcoming interview with Risk.net.

Scheuble adds that he expects to see a slowdown in new smart beta products being offered to the market
