Goodhart: Regulatory reform 'won't stop next crisis'

The regulatory changes brought in since the 2008 financial crisis won't be enough to stop the next crisis, a seminar at the London School of Economics (LSE) heard yesterday.

Charles Goodhart, a professor at the LSE and a former member of the Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee, said that another credit crisis would not come soon. "If we have a crisis before 2019, a very large element of it will be political mishandling – as in Argentina, as in Turkey. It will be political mishandling
