LCH goes live with agency model for client clearing

English law version of FCM-style European trust model approved, as Eurex lags behind

LCH Ltd has launched an English law model of a new framework for its SwapClear service, beating European Union rival Eurex Clearing in being the first to offer US-style agency client clearing in Europe.

The European agent trustee model (EATM) is sponsored by the Futures Industry Association. It is aimed at freeing up clearing capacity at globally systemically important banks (G-Sibs) that face
