Keeping up with regulatory change is now the biggest challenge facing banks. The Basel III rules were finalised in December, but there is plenty that still needs to be ironed out. Regulators tweaked the methodology for calculating the highly controversial credit value adjustment (CVA) capital charge in December, but further changes are possible as part of a review of the market risk framework, due this year. Market participants hope banks will be given more freedom to use their own CVA models
