Ayer retires from The Hartford

Ramani Ayer, chief executive of The Hartford Financial Services, has announced his retirement from the group, which he has headed since 1997 as part of a 36-year career. The financially unstable insurer is looking for a replacement. The Hartford was downgraded this year by Standard & Poor's amid management changes.
