Surveillance of EU energy markets set to increase
Regulators expect to make major advances in EU wholesale energy market monitoring now that trade reporting has begun, but some participants fear that different approaches across borders will lead to inconsistent enforcement
With the start of mandatory trade reporting in European Union wholesale gas and power markets, big changes are expected in the way those markets are policed – and the authorities will be watching closely for evidence of manipulation, insider trading and other misconduct.
