Change of heart: with Asian markets suffering serious volatility, risk-averse clients are diversifying

Asian private bank clients have switched from equity to interest rate structured products as end-users seek diversification and become increasingly risk averse in the face of ongoing stock market volatility, according to several market players.

Equity markets in Asia, in common with their global peers, suffered serious volatility at the end of 2015 and the beginning of this year. January saw China's Shanghai Composite Index fall 20% and Hong Kong's Hang Seng China Enterprises Index drop 14%
