Five years ago, Legal & General Investment Management struck a deal with Baringa Partners, a smallish consultancy, to jointly develop a tool to assess the climate risk of its investments. Some three years later, the companies parted ways. Baringa’s climate risk methodology was acquired by BlackRock last June. The world’s biggest asset manager will soon start offering Baringa’s scenarios to investors using Aladdin, its market-dominating risk management platform.
