So many acronyms, so little time. Or, perhaps, so much time, and so little to show for it.

The rampant bureaucracy of the European Union sprang to life in April, at last delivering what must be the final framework for the rules and regulations that will guide the creation and distribution of structured products throughout Europe. A process that started more than five years ago will finally spawn a new protocol for packaged retail investment products (Prips), protecting the consumer and enhancing
