Structured Products spoke to Dimitris Melas, Global Head of New Product Research at MSCI about a new innovation in indexing – factor investing.
Dimitris explains that factors are essentially common characteristics that cut across stocks and explain the performance of portfolios over long investment horizons. Although factors are well documented and their benefits already known to many investors, it is only recently that factors can be separated from active portfolios and captured and reflected in passive indexes.
