In June 2013, as our last cybersecurity supplement went to press, very few people had even heard of a National Security Agency contractor called Edward Snowden. This fact, more than any other, emphasises the speed at which the online risk landscape is changing: Snowden is now known around the world, and the vast quantities of information which he revealed about the NSA's global surveillance activities have probably caused more of a diplomatic storm than any leak since the Zimmermann Telegram.
