Bank reforms in the UK are at risk of being watered down as legislators fall prey to lobbying and misinterpret certain recommendations, according to former members of the Parliamentary Commission on Banking Standards.

In a lengthy statement published on November 17, members of the commission that advised on the shape of post-crisis banking regulation in the UK said many of the subsequent legislative efforts have fallen short of what was originally envisaged.

A key proposal by the commission was
