US regulator resigns to head derivatives industry group

Scott O'Malia has resigned as a commissioner at the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to become chief executive officer of the International Swaps and Derivatives Association.

O'Malia, who has been a CFTC commissioner for more than four years, announced his move to Isda four days after he sent his resignation letter to US President Barack Obama. He will join the industry group on August 18, filling the role Bob Pickel vacated in April.

O'Malia was officially sworn in as a Republican
