Industry unsettled over Obama’s derivatives plans

The results of a recent poll suggest uncertainty regarding the effect of US President Barack Obama's plans on derivatives reform.

The survey on www.risk.net found 30% believe the proposal "will cause a fundamental restructuring of the derivatives industry", with roughly equal votes for the four other choices.

Only 15% of people believe it will have a positive impact on the derivatives industry – an opinion that is shared by European regulators, as reflected in the recent announcement that
