American Stock Exchange demutualises

The American Stock Exchange (Amex) is going to go public. Neal Wolkoff, the exchange’s chairman and chief executive, said: “We have been carefully examining the structure of the exchange for months. The board’s approval to take the initial step to demutualise is a significant milestone for the American Stock Exchange.”

Known for being the first to list exchange-traded funds (ETF), Amex has focused for the past year on aggressively improving its technology, in addition to offering new products. Amex lists equities, options, ETFs, and structured products, among other products.
