MEFF extends derivatives contracts to IBEX 35

The Spanish futures and options exchange Mercado Español de Futuros Financieros (MEFF) this week extended its coverage to trade derivatives contracts on all the underlying shares in the IBEX 35, the index of Spain’s 35 most liquid stocks.

MEFF previously offered futures contracts on 10 IBEX35 companies, and options contracts on 16 IBEX35 companies. This represented around 80–90% of market share of both futures and options on the IBEX35.

Twenty-six new stock futures contracts and 20 new stock options contracts have been added, providing contracts on all IBEX35 companies, as well as the media conglomerate Promotora de Informaciones SA (PRISA).

Each contract represents 100 shares of the underlying company, and the premiums are quoted in euros per share. Settlement for both products is by delivery, expiring on the third Friday of March, June, September and December.
