Ortner arrives at BarCap

William Ortner has joined Barclays Capital as New York-based head of equity product origination for the Americas. He will lead the firm’s equity-linked financing and corporate equity derivatives divisions and report to Craig Orchant, head of corporate finance and risk management for the Americas, who is also based in New York.

BarCap has also hired several associates in its equity product origination division recently. In April, the firm poached Winston Ma from JP Morgan Chase’s capital structure advisory solutions group and Dev Shrotri from the global solutions group at New Jersey-based business information company Dun & Bradstreet.

In June, Greg Holden joined from Credit Suisse, where he was a vice-president in its equity-linked origination group. Ma, Holden and Shrotri are responsible for ensuring BarCap’s equity product capabilities are integrated with the firm’s other client-focused products.

"Our derivatives and liability management businesses with US corporations have grown substantially in recent years,” said Peter Goettler, head of debt capital markets and investment banking for the Americas. “This expansion of our equity product origination team is an exciting opportunity to further enhance the platform servicing our clients in the Americas."
