Japan electronics finish the week off their highs

“Demand for protection on electronic names started to die out yesterday”, with offers for protection coming back on the market, said one trader in Tokyo. “A number of people who were long on the risk decided to cut their position,” he explained.

Most of the activity was centred around electronics companies with large convertible bonds outstanding, such as Fujitsu and NEC. Uncertainty surrounding the electronics sector and the future value of their convertible bonds sent a number of participants
