SAS appoints business development manager

Technology company SAS has appointed a new business development manager to oversee its risk management practice.

Gez Llanaj joins the company from Fitch Risk Management, where he was involved in advisory work on compliance issues. He will report to Peyman Mestchian, director of risk management practice at the company.

“Addressing operational risk is currently in its infancy, with many organisations yet to comply with requirements such as Basel II. The risk management practice at SAS is working with organisations to focus on their data, processes and people,” said Mestchian.

According to a recent SAS/Risk Waters Group poll, 19% of the companies questioned still have no operational risk programmes in place to deal with the implications of the new Basel capital Accord.
