CDSs on European and US banks continue to widen

Five-year senior credit default swap (CDS) spreads referencing Royal Bank of Scotland pushed out from 166.9 basis points at yesterday's close to 179.8bp as of 1:40pm BST, according to data provided by credit information specialist CMA Datavision. CDSs on Lloyds TSB widened to 170.7bp from 163.4bp. Spreads referencing Barclays moved out from 158bp to 166.8bp.

French bank BNP Paribas saw its CDSs jump to 93.2bp from 85.5bp, while CDSs on local rival Société Générale widened to 108.5bp from 104.5bp
