Standard Bank boosts global markets presence in the Asia-Pacific

South Africa's Standard Bank has hired Philip Chu as head of global markets in Asia.

Based in Hong Kong, Chu will be responsible for all the bank’s global markets activities throughout Asia, including derivatives. He joins from WestLB, where he was most recently treasurer and executive director and also headed North Asia sales.

At Standard Bank, Chu will report to Tom Chenoweth, managing director of Standard Bank Asia and Brad Koen, head of global markets.

Malcolm Wilde, chief executive of Standard Bank Asia, said Chu's hire would help Standard Bank to further expand its franchise in the Asia-Pacific region.
