Merrill boosts equity teams in Asia-Pacific

US investment bank Merrill Lynch has made four new equity derivatives-related hires in Japan, two in Hong Kong and two in Australia.

In Tokyo, Bruce Henwood is joining Merrill Lynch’s Japan hedge fund sales group from JP Morgan, James O’Hanlon is joining the Japan convertible bond and equity derivatives sales group from Commerzbank, Dan Wheeler is joining as director in the Japan equity derivatives sales group from JP Morgan Chase, and Edward Perry is joining the Japan equity-linked trading group from Allstate Investment.

In Hong Kong, Janice Yu was hired in the Asian equity-linked derivatives marketing team from Lehman Brothers, and Stephen Choi is joining the Asian equity-linked trading group from Daewoo Securities.

In Sydney, Merrill Lynch has hired Scott Emms and Jason Lal to join its Australian portfolio trading group. Both were previously with JP Morgan Chase.
