As high-net-worth individuals become more sophisticated investors, major derivatives exchanges are increasing their marketing efforts towards a potentially lucrative client base. John Ferry reports

In September, wealthy investors attending the ‘Leisure and Alternative Investment Show’ at London’s Excel conference centre, which lies on the Thames near Canary Wharf, would have been tempted by stands pushing luxury villas in the Mediterranean, fine French wines, classic sports cars, yachts, race horses, fine art and antiques… and equity derivatives listed on the London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange (Liffe).
