Mervyn King lands three BIS roles; new BCBS chair named

Mervyn King, governor of the Bank of England, has been appointed to the post of chair of the Global Economy Meeting (GEM) and the Economic Consultative Committee (ECC) at the Bank for International Settlements, after consultation with members of the GEM. King will assume the roles on November 1, with a term of three years for each.

King has also been named as the new chair of the Group of Governors and Heads of Supervision (GHOS), the oversight body of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision
