CFTC eases margin requirements for inter-affiliate trades

Bowen votes against final rule exempting non-cleared inter-affiliate trades from initial margin

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) narrowly passed margin requirements for non-cleared swaps on December 16, despite opposition from Democratic commissioner Sharon Bowen.

Bowen voted against the final rule, citing concerns over an exemption from initial margin requirements for uncleared trades between bank affiliates.
