Distributor-investor structured product principles drafted

New principles drafted aiming at improving self-regulation

Five leading trade associations have drafted guideline principles on the sale of structured products by distributors to individual investors. This follows a similar initiative last year regarding principles for structured product deals between manufacturers and distributors (see Asia Risk July/August 2007, page 4).

The principles, published on May 12, call for "fair treatment" of individual investors, but also say investors "need to take responsibility for their investments goals" and stay
