DrKW hires senior credit structurer in Japan

Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein (DrKW), the investment banking arm of Germany's Dresdner Bank, has hired Carlos Cala as director and senior structurer within its global credit derivatives team. Based in Tokyo, he will report to Rick Weinstein, London-based global head of credit derivatives, and Mark Mallia, head of credit products for Japan and Asia.

Cala joins the bank from Gen Re Securities in Tokyo, where he was responsible for the structured credit trading business for Asia. Prior to that, he worked in the structured derivatives businesses of Rabobank, Bear Stearns and Lehman Brothers.

At DrKW, Cala will work closely with another recent hire, Hideyuki Kudo. The ex-Merrill Lynch banker was also appointed director and senior credit structurer at DrKW.

Both men will be responsible for credit products, such as credit-linked notes and collateralised debt obligations, in Asia.
