Morgan Stanley Investment Management snares quant head

Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM) has recruited Sandip Bhagat as managing director and global head of quantitative strategies. He reports to Joseph McAlinden and is based in New York.

Bhagat joins MSIM from Travelers Investment Management Company, a subsidiary of Citigroup specialising in quantitative investment strategies for both institutional and individual clients. He was most recently its president and chief investment officer, responsible for investment management, research and trading.

AT MSIM he will direct the structured products team, heading all portfolio management assignments. He will also build up the firm’s quantitative investment management capabilities. MSIM said he brings a depth of experience in indexing, equity and currency derivatives and risk analytics.
