Lipton joins Merrill Lynch to head real estate analytics

Alexander Lipton has joined Merrill Lynch as global head of credit, real estate, structured products analytics.

Lipton joins from Citadel Investment Group, a large Chicago-based hedge fund, where he was part of the firm's quantitative research team. He will be based in London, working as part of Merrill Lynch's global markets derivatives analytics group with the rank of managing director.

Before joining Citadel in 2003, Lipton was an equity derivatives product manager at CSFB. He won Risk's Quant of the Year award in 2000, while working in foreign exchange for Deutsche Bank and has written several technical papers for Risk.
